Yet the company keeps investing in microLED TV R&D in parallel, which has the potential for much brighter displays with a higher luminous efficiency, while still offering the pure blacks from OLEDs as it is too a self-emitting technology.

"As the world's first consumer modular MicroLED television, "The Wall" represents another breakthrough". While LG showed their OLED display that bends, which isn't anything new really albeit bigger and better, Samsung chose to focus on size.

The Wall is a 146-inch 4K Tv that has just been revealed by Samsung at the CES in Las Vegas. This is the heart and soul of the new Wall TV from the company and Samsung is promising that it will be part of the "screen of the future".

This is because the display is actually composed of many smaller modules that can be arranged to form unusual dimensions - one example that was squat and super-wide was briefly shown at the presentation. The tiny LEDs serve as their own light source and do not require a backlight.

Like King and Collins, Maine's two representatives in the House have also opposed any plans to drill off the Maine coast. Scott called the meeting with Zinke "historic" and thanked him for reversing the decision.

According to Samsung the TV uses what they call MicroLEDs. With Cinema Screen Samsung claims a brightness of about 500 nits, half that of its standard HDR TVs and lower than OLED. It can transform into any size, and delivers incredible brightness, colour gamut, colour volume and black levels.

Other key specs of "The Wall" include a full HDR support package with inclusion of full DCI-P3 wide color gamut and some essentially flawless contrast, with total black levels where needed alongside spectacularly high peak brightness as we'd mentioned above. As absurdly big as its 146 inch display surface is, Samsung has said that the screen is modular, meaning that it can be both shrunk down or enlarged as needed to cover a whole wall.
