The recent snow, cold and icy start to the new year has resulted in a critical shortage of blood donations.

Road conditions and too much snow also forces them to close for the safety of donors.

"Patient need at the hospitals we serve never stops", said Amanda Hess, Director, Donor Relations.

January is National Blood Donor Month - one of the most challenging times of year to collect enough blood and platelet donations to meet patient needs.
