Samsung To Unveil Galaxy S9 With Camera Upgrade on February 25

Of course the star of the show will be the Galaxy S9, which is pretty obvious given the timing of the announcement (Galaxy smartphones launch every spring, although not usually quite so early) and the giant "9" that dominates the invite. The company's new smartphone will be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, and based on the invitation, expect a new camera to be front and center.

According to Korea's ET News, the Galaxy S9 will come in two models, the 5.77-inch Galaxy S9 and the 6.22-inch Galaxy S9+. The ability to switch apertures based on background lighting would bring the Galaxy S9 even closer to a DSLR-like photography experience, especially when combined with the expected S9+ dual camera system. According to a report from Droid-Life, Samsung has sent out notifications to its Android Oreo beta testers informing them that the beta will officially be concluded on the 26th of January (which is tomorrow). Previously leaked details suggest the ISOCELL sensor that will be used on the Galaxy S9 will feature a stacked design that, in theory, would allow it to record video at up 960 frames per second at HD 720p and up to 480 fps in Full HD 1080p, for super slow motion captures.

Various rumors are saying that the Galaxy S9's screen will use "Y-OCTA" display technology, which is slimmer and has an integrated touch layer. However, Samsung listened to Android owners and put the fingerprint sensor beneath the camera lens. You will either get a Snapdragon 845 or an Exynos 9810. The 845 could speed up Bixby's voice recognition, for instance, giving it an advantage over Google Assistant.

Normally the standard Galaxy S model and the plus version are exactly the same, apart from a size difference. For quite some time, there have been a series of leaks and rumors which give us more insight into the phone, but the reliability of this information has been called into question.
