Airbus says some A320neos grounded by Pratt engine issue

Airbus has briefed airlines and leasing companies and told them it can not yet say how long it will take to resolve the problem, one source told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Following direction from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the low cost airlines IndiGo has grounded three A320 neo aircraft due to engine problems.

Airbus says around one-third of the in-service fleet of A320neos and A321neos has those engines installed so far, 11 of which are understood to have all two engines of the problematic standard and 21 just one of them.

Tillerson to Press Turkey to Free Detained Americans, Show Restraint in Afrin
Nauert said the U.S.is "extremely concerned" about the growing violence in eastern Ghouta, as well as in Idlib. The operation has been conducted jointly with Free Syrian Army opposition forces which are friendly to Turkey.

Airbus has briefed airlines and leasing companies on the problem and can not yet say how long it will take to resolve, one of the sources told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

This comes less than four months after last of grounded Airbus A320neo aircraft operated by IndiGo and GoAir were cleared to fly after Pratt & Whitney resolved issues with a carbon seal and the combustion chamber of its PW1100G JM power plants.

That followed a spate of in-flight shutdowns or rejected take-offs that one source said began happening 10 days ago.

Korea toward more hawkish N. Korea policy
If peace isn't imminent, a summit in Pyongyang between Moon and Kim Jong Un seems preferable to recent months' threats. Kim Yo Jong cuts a contrasting figure to her brother in North Korea's formal and tightly controlled state propaganda.

In total, the grounding affects 15-20 recently delivered aircraft, the sources familiar with the matter said. If an aircraft has only one engine with the aft hub modification, it must stop flying extended routes over water within one flight cycle, EASA says.

Airbus offers customers a choice of engines for the A320neo family, including the CFM International Leap-1A.

"We have identified the potentially affected engines and communicated with our customers", the Pratt spokesperson said.

Nancy Pelosi Is Incredibly Underrated
By hour two, Pelosi staffers were scrambling to gather more Dreamer stories from members and immigrant rights organizations. The Democratic leader in the US House of Representatives has broken records with an eight-hour speech on the House floor .

This is the second problem affecting Pratt & Whitney GTF engines since the start of their marketing, the first causing delays in 2017 in delivery of the A320neo, the re-engined version of Airbus' single-aisle plane. Visit MarketWatch.com for more information on this news.
