Officials seek woman who abandoned newborn in airport with note

Authorities are searching for a woman who is believed to have given birth in the toilets at Tucson airport and immediately abandoned her child.

The infant was placed on a changing table and had been cleaned and wrapped in a blanket after being born, according to authorities. The Tucson Airport Authority says the woman may have given birth in a Concourse B restroom, reports CBS affiliate KPHO.

The hours-old baby boy was wrapped in a dark jacket and lying on a changing table in a women's restroom when he was discovered by a woman who works for Avis Rent-a-Car in Tucson International Airport on January 14, Tucson Airport Authority Police (TAAPD) said.

According to the Tuscon Airport Authority, 'An investigation of video and witnesses indicates it is possible the mother, who has yet to be identified, gave birth to the baby boy sometime around 9pm'.

However, an airport is not a designated place to abandon a child, and police say the woman in the video may face charges if found. She can't and unfit to deal with me. "Please get me to the authorities so they can find a good home", it said, in part.

"I just want what is best for him and it is not me", the note continued, switching to the mom's perspective.
