Disgraced former USA Gymnastics doctor sent to Arizona federal prison

Disgraced United States Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar is now in federal custody.

Larry Nassar, the former US gymnastics doctor accused of molesting more than 200 women and children has been transferred to a high-security federal prison in Tucson.

Eaton County correctional officers on Thursday handed over the former Michigan State University sports doctor to federal officials, the Lansing State Journal reported. He's one of almost 1,400 inmates at the low-security prison, located about 10 miles south of Ann Arbor.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons' website says Nassar is now at a facility in Tuscon. He was sentenced on Monday in Eaton County on sexual assault charges. He pleaded guilty to those charges in July.

Nassar is serving a 60-year federal prison sentence for three child pornography convictions. Nassar has also been sentenced to 60 years in prison for three child pornography charges in federal court and between 40 to 175 years for seven counts of criminal sexual conduct. Congress, the NCAA, the U.S. Olympic Committee and the Michigan attorney general have launched investigations into USA Gymnastics' and Michigan State's handling of accusations against Nassar.

Since September 2016, when the Indianapolis Star detailed sexual assault allegations against Nassar, more than 260 women and girls have told law enforcement that Nassar sexually abused them.
