Men's downhill rescheduled for Thursday

The Pyeongchang Olympic men's downhill has been postponed until Thursday because of strong winds.

A training run in the Alpine combined downhill, initially scheduled for tomorrow, has also been cancelled as a result of the unfavourable forecast.

The weather conditions are not expected to improve for two to three days, which could cause the alpine skiing schedule to shift even further back in the Olympics.

In 2013, a U.S. intelligence report claimed that some military officials had planned to kill her during her 2012 India visit. She was again put under house arrest in November 2007 after the imposition of emergency rule in Pakistan .

The FIS jury and the local organisers later decided that the event will be moved to 11 a.m. on Thursday, while the men's super-G will be pushed to 11 a.m. on Friday.

Now the first race of the Alpine program will be the women's giant slalom on Monday.

Pence `Encouraged' by Talks With South Korea's Moon at Olympics
The vice president returned to the USA on Saturday having made no effort to ease the tensions between the US and North Korea . Moon is joined by his national security director, intelligence chief, chief of staff and the unification minister.

That made the decision to delay the men's downhill to Thursday a victory of sorts for NBC Universal, which paid almost $1 billion for the Pyeongchang Olympics media rights in the United States and has heavily promoted Shiffrin in the run-up to the Games. The downhill racers are all staying in the mountains near the racecourse, which was whipped by winds exceeding 60 miles an hour overnight.

"The wind is always stupid for us because firstly it makes the race a bit unfair and secondly it also makes it unsafe", said Germany's Thomas Dressen. "With this being an outdoor sport, it is not abnormal".

The event was scheduled to broadcast live in the US during NBC's primetime coverage on Saturday.
