Yup, it seems that Instagram is now alerting users whenever a screenshot of their Story has been taken. The new feature appears to be aimed at curbing the spread of cyberstalking, and ensure better privacy for users.

The users who are the participants of the test phase could see who took a screenshot of their story by going to the list of story viewers and seeing a new camera shutter icon next to the name of any friend who took a screenshot of their photo.

Now, these Stories feature on Instagram is very popular and has been used by most of the Instagram users to post the quick photos or videos that can be viewed for a limited time. To be exactly clear, the owners of the original posts would not be getting some specific alert when someone takes a screenshot of their story, however, it would only show up in their list of story viewers.

Acknowledging the test, Instagram told the publication that the service is always testing ways to improve user experience on the platform and make it easier to share any moment with people who matter to you. The first time a user attempts to take a screenshot of a story they will see a prompt that says the next time they screenshot a story the creator will be able to see. Putting the phone in airplane mode before taking the screenshot may not trigger Instagram's new warning.
