The sale of the Weinstein Company, which was supposed to be completed this weekend, was thrown in turmoil as the outgoing board of directors rejected a settlement offer by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman over civil rights violations.

Schneiderman said Sunday that a four-month investigation into sexual harassment found "vicious and exploitative mistreatment of company employees". "Any sale of The Weinstein Company must ensure that victims will be compensated, employees will be protected going forward, and that neither perpetrators nor enablers will be unjustly enriched".
