Xiaomi took the wraps off the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro alongside the Mi LED TV 4 on February 14 in India.

The Xiaomi Mi TV 4 was first launched a year ago at the CES 2017 and it is touted to be the thinnest TV to date. All this is because the company has about 57% shares in the online market segment in the country. "The Redmi Note 5 is essentially a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus, launched at the end of past year, and the Pro variant has the same 5.99" display but adds a dual camera module, a slightly more powerful processor, and a 6GB RAM option. In the short span of time spent with the Redmi Note 5, we found the device to be a decent performer.

The new Redmi Note 5 series has received an upgrade over its predecessor in terms of display size and screen resolution.

Given the key specifications, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is superior to the Redmi Note 4 and the Redmi Note 5 - from display to processor to RAM to storage to camera. The Plus version is priced at Rp 2,199,000 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. It still gets a full metal body and it's also thinner at 8.05mm. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is expected to be released overseas. It has f/2.2 aperture size and 1.25um pixel size. Over at the rear, you get this iPhone X style camera bump which houses a 12MP f/2.2 main camera and a secondary 5MP f/2.0 shooter for depth of field effects. The device runs Android Nougat 7.0 with MIUI 9 at the top. These are black, lake blue, gold, and rose gold colors.

A Face Unlock feature will arrive on Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro in March with an OTA update.

The Redmi Note 5 is going for 9,999INR (about RM612) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model and 11,999INR (about RM734) for the higher-spec 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option. The 12MP camera has f/2.2 aperture while the 5MP camera has f/2.0 aperture. On the front, it bears a 5-megapixel sensor complete with an LED selfie-light module and Beautify 3.0 beautification tech. Both these variants of Note 5 Pro also have different price tags. The 4GB variant will be sold for Rs 13,999, and the 6GB variant will be sold for Rs 19,999. Redmi Note 5 Pro has 4GB and 6GB RAM while the OnePlus 5T has 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM.

At Rs. 39,999, the Mi TV 4 is one of the cheapest 55-inch 4K TVs available in the Indian market. Xiaomi's range of Mi televisions has been well-received in its home market, China, and has been a popular product request in India since its launch.
