President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the Super Eagles of Nigeria of necessary support ahead of the World Cup tournament in June in Russia.Speaking when he received the FIFA World Cup Trophy at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday from Christian Karembeu, a retired worldwide footballer from France, who was representing the world football body FIFA, Buhari noted that football has a huge following in Nigeria that cuts across religion and ethnicities.

"I am proud to note that Nigeria is the first African country to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup", said president Buhari.

The world famous solid-gold trophy that will be presented to the winning country of the 2018 Fifa World Cup will be up for public viewing at the Old Parade Ground, Garki on Thursday morning.
