Alexa, Please Stop Laughing: Amazon Says It's Fixing Device's Unprompted Cackles

"After the third request, Alexa stopped responding and instead did an evil laugh".

Several people who own Amazon's Echo speakers have reported a odd bug: The Alexa voice assistant has been laughing for apparently no reason.

By Wednesday, Amazon had gotten to the bottom of the mystery.

"In rare circumstances, Alexa can mistakenly hear the phrase 'Alexa, laugh.' We are changing that phrase to be 'Alexa, can you laugh?' which is less likely to have false positives, and we are disabling the short utterance 'Alexa, laugh, ' " a spokesperson said in a statement. Others have said that Alexa has laughed after being asked to turn on the lights - and may have misheard the command. These claims were first published on social media, and since then, more and more reports have surfaced. In a response to the problem, Amazon has said they're going to change the command that prompts Alexa to laugh at "Alexa, can you laugh?"

Snapchat may soon allow you to tag people in snaps and stories
Well, why not? Not so long ago Instagram copied Snapchat by introducing " stories " that can also be posted to Facebook profiles. The feature also allows you to include the tagged person's Bitmoji and a QR code button that lets other users follow them.

The original programmed prompt will also be disabled so there shouldn't be any more accidental laughing sessions emerging from your digital device. Apparently Alexa has been hearing things incorrectly, and they have been misinterpreted as someone asking her to laugh. Amazon says Alexa will only respond to a follow-up commands if she's "confident" that it is a legitimate request and not just background noise.

The short laugh that users recorded and posted on Twitter sounds slightly sarcastic, as if the person laughing were trying to convey that they didn't really find whatever they'd just heard amusing.
