Is Amazon Alexa laughing at you?

Alexa will not listen for a follow-up question if the Echo device is playing music or audiobooks, or if you are on a call through the Echo.

The basic idea is simple, and a little bit obvious in hindsight.

When Amazon launched the Echo Show in May 2017, it introduced Alexa calling and messaging, a free-to-use feature that lets Amazon Echo owners and those with the Alexa app on their smartphone to make and receive calls and messages.

Kris Jenner says Khloe is her 'favourite' child
The mom-to-be dazzled in an ornate, shimmery silver minidress that showed off her baby bump in pics with family and friends. Pink balloons were scattered on the floor, while a large neon sign that read " Baby Thompson " was placed on a wall.

To indicate that Alexa is listening after completing her utterance, the blue light will be displayed for a few seconds.

If you want Amazon's Alexa digital assistant to do something for you all you need to do is say "Hey, Alexa" and it will wake up and start listening for a command. "She didn't even say anything, just laughed".

Meanwhile, Amazon also explained that the random laughs might have been caused by coincidental phrases that Alexa hears and processes as commands.

Amazon says Alexa will only respond to a follow-up commands if she's "confident" that it is a legitimate request and not just background noise. Amazon also notes that you can end the "conversation" in relatively normal fashion by saying something like "thank you", or "stop", while she's listening for a follow-up. Android and iOS have extra steps, forcing you to manually open the Alexa app before you can talk to the virtual assistant, but the basics are the same.

Up to now, calling via Alexa has been limited to Echo devices and smartphones. Obviously you can't make a video call to a regular Echo, but that should be obvious seeing as how it doesn't have a camera.
