The search giant Google is also imposing a ban on ads for financial products including binary options, a risky contract with an all-or-nothing in reward. The blanket ban will affect all companies with any kind of cryptocurrency-related offerings - even legitimate ones - and stop them from accessing Google's vast ad network, that allows companies to advertise on Google's own websites as well as those of third-party web partners. Last year, Google generated $95.4 billion in ad revenue, up 20 percent from 2016.

The move came as part of Google's announcement that it had removed 3.2 billion "bad ads" in 2017, nearly double the amount removed during the previous year.
