According to the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey Q2 2018, South African employers report encouraging signs for job seekers in quarter two of 2018.

The strongest hiring prospects were recorded in the sector of electricity, natural gas and water, with a +22 percent reading.

Hiring prospects weaken in three of the four regions when compared with the previous quarter.

Both state and national hiring outlook numbers are stronger than the current quarter, when a net of 15 percent of IN employers planned to hire and 19 percent of US employers expected to add jobs. Workforce gains were expected across all four regions in India. The strongest hiring prospects are reported in two regions with Net Employment Outlooks of +17% - the North and the South.

Employers expect to increase staffing levels in all seven industry sectors during the upcoming quarter.

According to the second quarter survey, although the hiring pace will slow, few staff reductions are expected.

The survey of over 1,900 employers across Canada reveals that 20 per cent plan to increase their staffing levels in the second quarter of 2018, while three per cent anticipate cutbacks. The strongest outlooks are reported in Leisure & Hospitality (+28%), Professional & Business Services (+23%), Wholesale & Retail Trade (+23%), and Durable Goods Manufacturing (+19%).

Modest hiring plans are reported in the mining and construction sector with an outlook of +7%, and in the transportation and utilities sector, where the outlook is +6%.

Of the more than 11,500 USA employers who participated in the survey, 23 percent plan to hire; 3 percent plan to reduce staff; 73 percent expect to maintain current workforce levels; and 1 percent don't know.
