Tata Sons Ltd., the holding company for India's biggest business group, raised $1.38 billion after upsizing its offering of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. stock, people with knowledge of the matter said. According to bulk deal data available with the NSE, Tata Sons has sold little over 3.12 crore shares in TCS through two transactions. Post the share sale, Tata Sons' holding in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has come down to around 72 percent from 73.52 percent. Last week, Tata Sons said that it will buy a 7% stake in group company Indian Hotels for over Rs 1,000 crore on or after March 13, which will increase its stake from 30% to 37% in the hospitality chain. Last year, Tata had sold off the Tata Teleservices Ltd.'s mobile-phone operations to Bharti Airtel Ltd.to raise funds for creditors as well. As part of restructuring its investment portfolio, Tata Sons will acquire additional shares in IHCL anytime on or after March 13, 2018.

The price of the stake sale is likely to be between Rs 2,872 and Rs 2,925, Bloomberg reported.
