After repeated warnings Facebook bans Britain First for 'inciting hatred'

"Britain First is a vile and hate-fuelled group whose sole objective is to sow division".

Facebook went on to say that it's open to different political views, including controversial opinions that some might dislike. Now, though, it's made the decision to ban the group's page, and prevent them from starting a new one. Their sick intentions to incite hatred within our society via social media are reprehensible, and Facebook's decision to remove their content is welcome. "[But] there are times though when legitimate political speech crosses the line and becomes hate speech created to stir up hatred against groups in our society".

With only a few thousand members and repeated failures to elect government candidates, Britain First has no direct political influence in the United Kingdom.

Britain First was apparently given multiple warnings about its content but ignored them. Because they don't understand that Facebook is a private company capable of setting its own rules about what is and isn't acceptable.

Snow warning amid threat from 'Beast from the East Two'
Parts of England and Scotland may face more snow towards the end of the week, with cold winds from the east set to strike again. The cold snap may well last into next week and there is likely to be at least some snow in parts of the UK.

Facebook is continuing to crack down on hate speech-no matter how many likes it gets.

"Content posted on the Britain First Facebook Page and the Pages of party leaders Paul Golding and Jayda Fransen has repeatedly broken our Community Standards", Facebook explained, in a statement.

The removal of the Britain First pages comes as Facebook and other internet firms like Twitter (TWTR.N) and Google (GOOGL.O) are under growing pressure to police their networks, refereeing content to prevent extremist groups spreading their messages and recruiting online.

Britain First focused mostly on anti-Muslim rhetoric.

Mr Golding and Ms Fransen were jailed earlier this month after being convicted of religiously-aggravated harassment in Kent past year.

Facebook said the posts which got it kicked off the platform included a graphic comparing Muslim immigrants to animals, a photo of Golding and Fransen with the caption "Islamophobic and proud" and video of ISIS beheadings.

"The group became the real "Facebook fascists" and there may be reason to believe the group could even fold if Facebook stays strong and follows up on the mirror and back-up sites Britain First has", he said of the potential impact of Facebook's stance. In November 2017, Britain First was deregistered as a political party by the Electoral Commission, the U.K.'s election watchdog.
