After Drake Stream, Fortnite Will Host A Celebrity "Party Royale" At E3

A livestream of internet mogul Kim Dotcom, an National Football League star and rappers, including Drake, playing a video game has broken records with more than 600,000 people tuning in.

Drake, who gives few interviews, spoke at length with Ninja as they played "Fortnite" on Wednesday night, for a time making the episode a trending topic on Twitter. "I've been recording most of this album in Miami".

Details are still scant at this point, but it sounds like E3 will be home to a doubles tournament that pairs "some of the world's greatest athletes and entertainers with top Fortnite Battle Royale players".

The first video is from the period in the stream when he and Drake were playing duos.

Among tidbits into his life that drew wide notice on social media, Drake revealed that he is a vegetarian and that he is a fan of pineapple on pizza.

"The reaction to this Twitch stream shows the power of mixing a major celebrity with a very popular game in a live streamed environment", said Piers Harding-Rolls, games analyst at IHS Markit. His penchant for commentary and self-promotion, especially for Twitch's Prime subscription, has earned him more than 50,000 subscribers in just over a week, as the Twitch Reddit community noted.

The popularity of the tie-up is a PR victory for Fortnite-maker Epic ahead of its launch of a version of the game on iOS and Android mobile devices.

It will compete in the Multiplayer and Evolving Game categories, but missed out on the Best Game group.
