Vontaze Burfict Facing 4-Game Suspension For PED Use

How is that possible in March, when there's no one for the Cincinnati Bengals linebacker to cheap-shot, you ask?

Bengals' LB Vontaze Burfict is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's Performance-Enhancing Drug policy, pending appeal, league sources tell ESPN.

The 27-year-old linebacker also used prescribed medications after sustaining a Grade 3 shoulder AC sprain versus the Detroit Lions on December 24, according to ESPN.

The former All Pro hasn't played a full season since 2013. However, all three of those outings have come since the start of the 2016-17 regular season.

This would mean that of all the concussions suffered in the NFL, Burfict is the first guy to get a banned substance to treat it. According to ESPN, he has also paid more than $300,000 in fines - 11 total - in his career. His losses of at least $1.45 million this year can be broken down into two categories: his game day checks and his per-game roster bonuses.

Brown, 25, has not missed a game since being selected by the Bills in the third round of the 2014 draft, starting 62 of the 64 games in which he has played.

Burfict has been disciplined 10 different times by the National Football League, costing him more than $2.5 million in fines and lost pay. Instead, he's facing a four-game suspension for a PED violation. On top of that he lost $94,000 in per-game roster bonuses last season while suspended. His other suspension was for his hit on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown that helped lose the playoff game for the Bengals in the 2015 season.
