Saints wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson coached Meredith while holding the same position for the Bears during the 2016 season. If the Bears do not match the offer, they will not receive compensation from the Saints.

The Saints could really use a playmaker like Meredith to pair with Michael Thomas on the outside, but his future is now in the hands of the Chicago Bears.

Cam Meredith, two years removed from being the Bears' leading receiver, has signed a two-year offer sheet with the Saints worth about $10 million, according to ESPN. Had the Bears placed a second-round tender on him - for about an extra $1 million in 2018 - other teams likely would have been dissuaded by the compensation.

American Airlines Expands Boeing 787 Fleet
Under American's fleet plan before Friday, the airline expected to fly five types of widebody jets going forward. Boeing says it has more than 1,350 orders registered for the 787.

Meredith visited the Saints, Colts and Ravens in recent weeks. He was coming off a career-best campaign where he recorded 66 catches for 888 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Meredith entered the National Football League in 2015 as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Bears.

Earlier in the offseason, the Bears used the transition tag of $12.971 million on unrestricted free agent Kyle Fuller, rather than the more restrictive franchise tag of $14.975 million.

The Bears' urgency to retain Meredith could be diminished by the offseason free-agent signings of WRs Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, along with pass-catching TE Trey Burton. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New Orleans Saints have chose to go that route by presenting Meredith with a two-year, $10 million deal.

Ohio State reaches agreement with Urban Meyer on 2-year contract extension
Since OSU hired Meyer in December, 2011, the Buckeyes are 73-8 and have won the Big Ten twice, most recently in 2017. Northwestern paid head coach Pat Fitzgerald an annual salary of $3.31 million, which was eighth in the conference.

He never had the chance to improve upon that season in 2017, though.

They can match the offer, and if they do, Meredith will be theirs on the two-year contract.
