Shenmue I & II Coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC this Year

The game that once called the Dreamcast its home will finally be experienced the way it should've been all along, on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.

Following several reports over the last couple of years, Sega kicked off FES 2018 with the announcement that it's re-releasing Shenmue I and Shenmue II for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The first Shenmue originally launched in 1999 and, at the time of its release, had the distinction of being the most expensive video game ever created. Before anyone really delivered an open-world experience Shenmue brought it to the limelight. Nonetheless, fans of the series, and those that have never had the chance to play them before, have been calling for a re-release of the games for some time. It should be noted that the PS4, Xbox One, PC versions were announced for United States and European territories.

The publisher has revealed that both Shenmue I & II are going to see release for modern devices.

Shenmue I & II follows protagonist Ryo Hazuki on his quest to avenge his father and unravel the secrets behind a mysterious artifact, the Dragon Mirror.

The bundle isn't just a straight port of the original games, either.

Of course, 2018 is also the date set for the release of the third part of the Shenmue franchise. There'll be new resolution options, as well as a choice of classic and modern control schemes, an updated user interface, and the option to enjoy the titles with either English or Japanese dialogue.
