During his tenure as Prime Minister, this was his fourth visit to Chhattisgarh and second visit to Bastar region. He had visited Dantewada in May 2015, Naya Raipur and Rajnandgaon in February 2016 and Naya Raipur in November 2016. These centres will provide comprehensive health care, including for non-communicable diseases and maternal and child health services.

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday appealed to the Maoist youth to shun their guns and join the mainstream for development in which the government would protect their rights. "These centres will function like family doctors for people in villages", the PM said.

Under Ayushman Bharat, the govt has chose to transform 1.5 lakh sub health centres to health and wellness centres in a bid to provide comprehensive primary healthcare.

The scheme, branded Ayushman Bharat and also known as Modicare, will create a primary-healthcare network and also cover annual costs of up to Rs 5 lakh a family for free treatment of serious illnesses. The second component of Ayushman Bharat is to provide insurance cover to 40% of India's population for secondary and tertiary care. These two health sector initiatives under Ayushman Bharat Programme will build a New India 2022 and ensure enhanced productivity, well being and avert wage loss and impoverishment.
