Incidentally, Sunil Bose, son of Public Works Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, whose name had been doing the rounds, has not been given ticket in the present list. There is also no woman candidate among the 82 names.

The Rajya Sabha MP was echoing the sentiments of local Congress leadership over the list of candidates that was announced earlier in the day. The list included 48 sitting or outgoing legislators from the state's northern, central and southern regions.
