Russian Federation slams joint airstrikes in Syria

The UN Security Council overwhelmingly rejected a Russian resolution calling for condemnation of "aggression" by the United States, United Kingdom, and France against Syria on Saturday, a vote reflecting support for the allied airstrikes on Syrian chemical sites.

The 15-member council met on Saturday, at Russia's request, the fifth time it has met on Syria since a suspected deadly toxic gas attack in the Syrian town of Douma a week ago.

The strikes hit three sites - one in Damascus and two in Homs - which US President Donald Trump said were "associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad".

Russia's Ministry of Defense said it believed the action by the US, UK and France was not in retaliation to the alleged chemical attack in Douma but instead was a reaction to the "success" of the Syrian army in liberating its territory from rebels.

Wednesday: Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russian military inspectors found no evidence of a chemical attack.

Asked if he was referring to a war between the United States and Russia, Nebenzia told reporters: "We can not exclude any possibilities unfortunately because we saw messages that are coming from Washington".

"When our president draws a red line, our president enforces the red line, " Haley said. A Downing Street spokesperson added: "They agreed it was vital that the use of chemical weapons did not go unchallenged, and on the need to deter the further use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime".

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and Kelowna Fire Investigators will be at the scene investigating. A family of six was displaced from their home after a small house fire broke out in San Lorenzo this evening.

Putin said the USA actions in Syria made the humanitarian catastrophe worse and caused pain for civilians.

"So, in theory, all of us agree on the core principle at stake today: no country can be allowed to use chemical weapons with impunity", Haley said.

"We continue to observe risky military preparations for an illegal act of force against a sovereign state", Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told the UN Security Council.

"Again, we are being threatened", Antonov continued. Syria blames Israel while Russian Federation insists that the chemical attack was staged.

Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, on Friday accused Russian Federation of lies and covering up for Assad, which she said had used chemical weapons at least 50 times in the past seven years of warfare.

Britain's ambassador to the United Nations, Karen Pierce, dismissed Konashenkov's claim as "a blatant lie".

Russia's Nebenzia called it "a very sad day for the world, for the United Nations, for its Charter which was blatantly, blatantly violated, and for the Security Council which has shirked its responsibilities".

This is practically unheard of in modern day professional baseball, as specialization has become the norm for most players. Los Angeles has covered the spread six times in its last seven games and the total has gone over in four of those seven.

Syria's Foreign Ministry condemned the airstrikes as a "flagrant violation of the global law".

The OPCW's report confirmed British findings that the Skripals were poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent, but didn't say who was responsible.

Nebenzia responded saying the environment is "not very conducive for any rapprochement" and "the political and unsafe military situation we are in now" must be sorted out first.

"We welcome this operation which has eased humanity's conscience in the face of the attack in Douma, largely suspected to have been carried out by the regime", Turkey's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The warning from Moscow came as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that increasing tensions over Syria could lead to "full-blown military escalation".

Guterres said he has asked Syrian special envoy Staffan de Mistura to come to NY as soon as possible to consult "on the most effective way to accelerate the political process".
