The Walking Dead: Maggie justified turning to dark side

Spoilers below for The Walking Dead's Season 8 finale, so be sure to watch before reading on. Letting Negan live caused Maggie (Lauren Cohan) to break down - craving vengeance for her husband - and her decision to plot against Rick was joined by, among others, Daryl (Norman Reedus), potentially placing the show's most significant players in conflict.

Out of bullets and with an injured hand from his gun backfiring, Negan ran for cover, and it all boiled down to a physical fight with Rick, which explained the scene under the stained glass window teased previously.

Along the ride, Negan confesses that he's going to kill Rick and all of the communities. At some point in the future, she is going to "show" Rick just how wrong he was for that decision ... with Daryl at her side?! Negan had seemingly won, but Rick made a plea regarding Carl's vision for the future - and the role Negan could play - that gave him pause, allowing Rick to cut his throat.

So what now does Negan offer? "Carl didn't know a damn thing". However, details remain under the wraps and there is still no hints about who along with Morgan will be making an appearance on Fear the Walking Dead Season 4. Over at the Sanctuary, it was very much clear that Negan was ready for war and, to go along with that, was more than happy to abuse Dwight once more. "As Andy says, I don't think the story between, about the relationship between Rick and Morgan, is over yet". "And Jesus, he would not have killed the surrendering Saviors, but he's not Morgan".

Seven prison inmates killed, 17 injured in SC
A sign in front of the Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville, South Carolina, is seen in this image from Google Maps. Jeff Taillon spoke after State Law Enforcement Division agents helped secure Lee Correctional Institution around 3 a.m.

This would've marked one of the more major departures the show's made from its source material as Negan survives in the comics to be imprisoned in Alexandria. Morgan went and visited Jadis as well, offering her an opportunity to return to the community if she so chose.

Maggie was seen talking to Jesus in her office at the Hilltop about what's next. This is the one thing we didn't see coming.

Rick hasn't been the greatest leader, it's true, but if Gimple and company think the way to win back fans is a survivor mutiny I think there's trouble ahead for more people than Rick.

With old faces, new faces, and a time jump, Fear the Walking Dead feels like it's been given a second life.

While he averaged just under 41 this season, his average for the last three seasons was 55, 56 and 72 respectively. The second Test will be held at Headingley in Leeds on June 1.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC. We'll also see some other big changes.

"Rick was wrong to do what he did". But what happens in the season 8 finale was much more anticlimactic. Negan eventually found him and what we had in the end here was the foundation for a battle of the ages ... and one that ended very differently than anyone probably expected.

Rick finally deigned to talk to Siddiq about how Carl got bitten but, honestly, the stuff about Carl honouring Siddiq's dead mother by killing zombies to release their souls sounded just as stupid as it did the first time around.

"We are worse than we were", Morgan (Lennie James) told Rick near the finale's outset, a reference to their lost humanity, but also a fair description of where the show stands - commercially as well as creatively - compared to its dizzying apex.

However, the commentary has been replaced by "what a goal from Harry Kane! " with the caption "Wooooooow really? ". However, those who betted on Jesus and Gundogan were also paid what they were owed.

Of course, the two biggest obstacles in their way are Rick and Michonne. Comics Negan does indeed rot in jail for about two years, but when the new villains are introduced-the Whisperers, a ruthless gang who wear zombie skin and wander among the walkers-Negan ends up actually working alongside Rick to defeat them. "So we're gonna bide our time, wait for our moment, and then we're gonna show him".
