The three commissioners told a news conference on Monday morning that Chebukati had failed to provide leadership in the commission while accusing him of being antagonistic.

"Henceforth, political parties should nominate IEBC Commissioners".

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of the ruling Jubilee Party is now calling for commission head Wafula Chebukati to step down and for the IEBC to be disbanded.

"The Commission Chairperson has failed to be the steady and stable hand that steers the ship in hard times and give direction when needed".

The commissioners' resignation leaves in office three other commissioners after Roselyn Akombe resigned in October previous year saying she feared for her safety and that the IEBC as then constituted could not hold credible repeat elections.
