Syrian air defences shoot down missiles in Homs

The Pentagon on Monday denied any involvement in an attack on a Syrian air base outside Homs, not far from where US, United Kingdom and French missiles struck early Saturday morning.

"We don't comment on such reports", Reuters quoted a spokesman for the Israeli military as saying.

The news agency did not give further details and it was unclear who was behind the attack, which Syrian state television branded as an "aggression".

Expect readings to slowly warm through the upper 70s by Tuesday with mid-80s resuming by Wednesday, lasting into the weekend. Right now, looks like sunny and spring-like temperatures will continue into next weekend, with rain by late Sunday.

The apparent attack came days after the US, France and Britain conducted a coordinated missile attack against Syrian government targets.

Also a number of local reporters have said there are "Israeli warplanes" flying at high-altitude carrying out the attack after crossing the borders through Lebanon.

Initial reports claim the raid is aimed at the T4 base, but others say it is aimed at Shyrat AB which was hit a year ago in the US Tomahawk attack. Reports close to the regime indicated that its defences shot down six missiles targeting the base.

Syrian air defences intercepted missiles over Homs which targeted Shayrat air base late on Monday night, Syrian state television reported.

A Pentagon spokesman said there was no U.S. military activity in that area at this time.
