According to MMA Fighting's Dave Doyle, the 29-year-old former defensive end will make his professional mixed martial arts debut against Brandon Sayles on UFC President Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series in Las Vegas on June 12.

While Hardy easily defeated his previous opponents, this time the former National Football League player will face MMA fighter Brandon Sayles, who will reportedly be a more serious test of Hardy's capabilities in the ring.

He played five seasons for the Panthers and became a breakout star in 2013 when he had 15 sacks and was named to the Pro Bowl team. Following the charges, Hardy signed with the Dallas Cowboys but only lasted one year with the team in a stint that was marked with disciplinary issues and further off-the-field controversies. Hardy's domestic violence case was never resolved as well, as the prosecutor did not arrive at court. Hardy pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge in 2016.
