Quentin Tarantino talks up DiCaprio-Pitt screen chemistry in new movie

Quentin Tarantino was not shy about promoting his next film while sharing the stage with Leonardo DiCaprio during a surprise visit at CinemaCon 2018 Monday night.

DiCaprio, who previously worked with the director on "Django Unchained", also hyped up the movie by gushing about Tarantino's screenplay.

A sizzle reel at the onset showed an artistic portrayal of his canon with titles like Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, with the final shot being a representation of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Brad Pitt and DiCaprio.

He explained: "Sony and myself will be coming to the theatres with the most exciting star dynamic since Paul Newman and Robert Redford".

Tarantino said the film will be set in Hollywood in 1969, and will be filmed in Los Angeles this summer.

"It's very hush-hush and top secret".

Tarantino said the film will take place in Hollywood in 1969, "the height of the counterculture explosion, at the time of the hippie revolution and the height of New Hollywood".

It follows a TV actor and his stunt double who "embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry".

The film is set to be released on August 9, 2019 - the 50th anniversary of the LaBianca murders, and one day ahead of the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate's murder.

DiCaprio also promised that the work of the Oscar-winning screenwriter Tarantino was "the most wonderful screenplay he's ever written, and that's saying a lot".
