Arsenal is already weighing options to gamble on appointing Mikel Arteta as the club's new manager following the departure of Arsene Wenger.

The former Everton star will have learned a lot from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, under whom he has worked as a coach for the past two seasons.

Although the likes of Massimiliano Allegri, Luis Enrique and Patrick Vieira have all been linked with the job, it is beginning to look increasingly likely that Arteta will take over this summer.

Arteta would seek to bring in at least three of his own appointments - with further backroom changes expected.

Arteta is apparently chief executive Ivan Gazidis and director Josh Kroenke's preferred candidate, although it has also been claimed that other board members wanted a manager with more experience.

The midfielder is a fans favourite at the Emirates Stadium and has scored 29 goals in 189 appearances for the Gunners.

Arteta meanwhile has reached the point in his negotiations with Arsenal where he has "named potential staff and the financial package required", and among the people he wants working with him is Santi Cazorla.

"With Vieira - and this is only my opinion - yes".
