The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday they'll be retiring Thomas' number for good this coming football season.

The Bills have (understandably) retired just one number in franchise history, No. 12, which belonged to their greatest player, quarterback Jim Kelly.

The Bills' game against the Patriots on October 29 is the Monday night game on ESPN and is scheduled for an 8:15 p.m. ET. He spent 12 years in Buffalo, racking up a total of 11,938 rushing yards in the process. Thomas rushed for 4,847 yards and 43 touchdowns during his college career. He also excelled as part of the Bills passing game, finishing with 500 or more receiving yards four times.

Thomas is a five-time Pro Bowler and earned first-team All-Pro accolades in 1989, 1990, and 1991.
