Boyd Dead: 'America's Got Talent' Winner Dies at 42

The opera singer, who won season three of America's Got Talent, passed away on Sunday in Sikeston, Missouri. The opera singer was only 42 years old.

Neal won "AGT" back in 2008. wowing the judges and the audience with his operatic voice.

He also bagged the talent contest's $1 million prize as well as a Las Vegas residency at the time. He then went on to release an album, My American Dream, in 2009, and performed at the Republican National Convention in 2012. His post-Talent career included an album, My American Dream, and performances for multiple US presidents.

Boyd had been slowly recovering after a crash past year that left him and his mother badly hurt.

Boyd's twitter biography still has the line, "Boyd for Missouri 2014".

Piers said: "You know Neal, as you began to sing, I think the whole audience felt electricity on the stage".

Boyd briefly dabbled in politics, too: He ran for a seat in the Missouri House of Representatives twice, but was defeated both times.
