De Niro drops Trump F-bomb onstage at Tony Awards

Actor Robert De Niro took the stage at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards Sunday night to introduce his friend Bruce Springsteen - but his introduction took a slight detour.

The legendary actor dropped the f-bomb while introducing Bruce Springsteen, who won a special Tony for Springsteen on Broadway and performed "My Hometown" at the show honoring the best of Broadway.

Understandably, CBS, the network which broadcast the awards, bleeped the swearing leading some viewers to take to social media to question what he'd said and why it got a standing ovation. "Larry Kudlow looked like he was drunk yesterday morning on CNN, saying that Trudeau stabbed Trump in the back", De Niro said.

"I'm gonna say one thing - F**k Trump", he said to the delight of the audience.

Morgan backs England to learn from Scots' shock
I'm not hugely disappointed about it because it was a good competitive game and that is all we could have asked for". In the last series between the sides in Australia earlier this year England claimed a 4-1 win.

As soon as DeNiro shouted out the profanity, the audience went wild, some rose to their feet while DeNiro pumped his fists triumphantly. "It's no longer down with Trump, it's f- Trump!"

Grit and heart were the big winners at last night's Tony Awards - no more evident than when drama students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High wowed Radio City with a heart-wrenching performance of "Seasons of Love" from Rent.

But the biggest victor of the night was a musical about an Egyptian band visiting an Israeli desert town - The Band's Visit picked up an impressive 10 prizes, including best musical, best actress (Katrina Lenk) and best actor (Tony Shalhoub).

Amid the spoken part of his performance, Springsteen dwelt on growing up "surrounded by God and all my relatives" in the USA, explaining that people did their best to resist the "demons, outside and inside, that sought to destroy them".

De Niro has been an outspoken critic of Trump in the past.

De Niro made his comments at a groundbreaking for a new restaurant and hotel complex in Toronto. "The offensive language was deleted from the broadcast", CBS said in a statement to Variety.
