William Carvalho, Gelson Martins, Bruno Fernandes have all made a decision to break their club contracts with Sporting Lisbon following a season of off-the-field trouble between players, fans and the owner.

Bas Dost and three other Sporting Lisbon have quit the embattled club.

Sporting Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho has offered to stand down in a bid to prevent a number of the club's key players rescinding their contracts. They all claimed "just cause" in emails sent to the commission.

Rui Patrício, Bruno Fernandes, William Carvalho and Gelson Martins have all asked to have their contract's dissolved, and Record are reporting that Dost also wants to leave the club on a free.

Spain manager Julen Lopetegui announced as Real coach
Zidane's resignation came as a big shock, as he had just led Real Madrid to a third consecutive UEFA Champions League triumph. And as they had hoped, the European champions have announced the Frenchman's successor ahead of this summer's World Cup.

The mass exit comes at the end of a tumultuous season for Sporting with clashes between players and both of the club's most radical fans and its president.

Last month 50 fans forced their way onto the training pitch and attacked players and staff with Bost picking up a head injury.

Originally regarded as one of Sporting's most valuable players, Fernandes could walk away from the club on a free transfer, as the turmoil at Estádio José Alvalade continues.

De Carvalho threatened to suspend 19 players after Sporting's 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League in April, in a freaky Facebook post singling out some of the club's key names.

There were recent reports - all unconfirmed - blaming De Carvalho for the attacks by fans on the players and coaches.
