The smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Huawei Kirin 970 (4 x 2.4 GHz A73+ 4 x 1.8 GHz A53) 10nm processor with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.

Another highlight of the device is that it comes with GPU Turbo technology which is a software and hardware optimized graphics acceleration technology that improves performance by up to 60 percent and lowers power usage by 30 percent.

For those unfamiliar with Honor the smartphone maker is owned by Huawei, but operates in its own right and recently launched in South Africa with a handful of mid-range devices.

The software update is now in beta, but should start arriving to all phones no later than July 15. Those looking for more improvements to the handset will be disappointed, as everything else seems to be the same as the original Honor 10.

Huawei has now officially unveiled the first phone from its lineup that carries a whopping 8 GB of RAM. The device will go on sale on July 10 through JD.com but a price has not been announced.

If Huawei is to be believed, the Chinese smartphone giant is about to seriously buck this trend with something it's calling GPU Turbo. In the Philippines, the regular Honor 10 with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage costs P23,990, which translates to roughly $450.

With the exception of the increased RAM count, GPU Turbo update, and a new camera mode for taking night shots, the Honor 10 GT is identical to the standard Honor 10 that debuted in May. The front-facing camera is a 24MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.0. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with EMUI 8.1 on top and is backed by a 3,400mAh battery. There is a dual-lens camera setup on the back, with one lens having a resolution of 24 MP while the other has a resolution of 16 MP.

The company introduced Super Night Scene Mode, also referred to as AIS, on the Mate 10 which will be available to former models on July 12 through a beta update.

According to the company, the power-saving feature on the Honor 10 GT will restrict the power consumption during 8 hours of standby to only 2 to 3 percent.
