Kylie Jenner Is About To Become The Youngest Self-Made Billionaire

Kylie Jenner is on the cover of Forbes' "America's Women Billionaires" issue, with the magazine estimating the cosmetics entrepreneur is worth $900 million.

Jenner said she hopes to pass her business down to her daughter, Stormi: "If she's into it", she said.

One person wrote, "To call Kylie Jenner a self-made billionaire is like saying you made soup from scratch because you opened a can of it and put it in the microwave".

The beauty guru debuted her Kylie Cosmetics line two years ago, and it has since sold more than $630 million worth of makeup, the outlet reports.

Forbes' Natalie Robehmed details how Kylie Cosmetics has found success both by harnessing Jenner's huge social media following and slashing costs by outsourcing labor.

Kylie's make up brand kicked off when she introduced her $29 lip kits that included a lip liner and a lip colour.

The 20-year-old's net worth has skyrocketed beyond that of her siblings thanks to the success of Kylie Cosmetics.

"Social media is an wonderful platform; I have such easy access to my fans and my customers".

"Another year of growth will make her the youngest self-made billionaire ever, male or female, trumping Mark Zuckerberg, who became a billionaire at age 23", Robehmed reported.

"Ever since I was in sixth grade, I would wear purple eye shadow", Jenner said.

"I have such easy access to my fans and my customers", she said.

Jenner told Forbes that she invested $250,000 of her own money from modeling gigs in 2015 to pay an outside company to produce the first 15,000 lip kits that eventually launched into a full-fledged cosmetic line.

Since then, the company has sold $630m of makeup, helped in a large part by Jenner's own social media presence. But as she started making money as a model, adding endorsement deals with British retailer Topshop and others, it all began to add up and her appearance began to be a business. Since adding other cosmetics like eye shadow and concealer, Forbes values her company at almost $800 million.

"Add to that the millions she's earned from TV programs and endorsing products like Puma shoes and PacSun clothing, and $60 million in estimated after-tax dividends she's taken from her company, and she's conservatively worth $900 million".
