‘FBI lovers’ lawyer refuses to testify on alleged…

Lisa Page, the infamous former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer whose anti-Trump texts sparked an outcry against bias in the government, refused Tuesday to testify before Congress and is blaming the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the congressional committees calling for her testimony.

Ms. Page was scheduled to testify on Wednesday before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees.

Page was subpoenaed to provide a deposition behind closed doors on Wednesday, but she didn't appear under Jeffress's advice.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) threatened Page that he would enforce the subpoena, but has yet to do so. "She has an obligation to come and testify".

"If she wants to come plead the Fifth, that's her choice", he added. But a subpoena to testify before Congress is not optional. It's mandatory. She needs to comply'.

Partisan Divide Deepens Over Trump’s Supreme Court Pick
Shah said the undisclosed number of unidentified friends paid Kavanaugh back for their share of the tickets. Yet others questioned exactly why Kavanaugh's debts were suddenly paid off a year ago .

Page's texts about Donald Trump with her FBI lover Peter Strzok caused a firestorm and were used by the president and his Republican allies to complain the Russian Federation investigation was rigged.

Trump has seized on Page and Strzok's inflammatory texts, which were detailed in a report by the Justice Department's internal watchdog last month, to paint the FBI and Mueller's investigation as biased.

Jeffress added that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had not given her and Page the necessary materials to prepare for her hearing, saying the two had gone to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to review the materials, "but after waiting for more than three hours, we were not provided with any documents".

Jeffress writes in the letter that she assumes the committees agree there is no legitimate basis for that investigation, because it would be "inappropriate for the chairmen to request a voluntary interview from a subject or target of a criminal investigation relating to the same matters of that investigation".

President Trump accused Page and her "FBI lover", Agent Peter Strzok, of "getting cold feet" about their testimony on Twitter Monday. President Trump continued in a subsequent tweet.

Setting out vision for future ties, Britain's May presses Brexit plans
Boris Johnson's resignation was announced as David Davis was partway through an LBC interview - this was his instant reaction. With the threat of more to follow, it could be game over for Theresa May and Britain's entire moderate Brexit plans.

The two exchanged text messages saying "we'll stop" a Trump presidency, a report by the FBI Inspector General found.

Strzok and Page were involved in a romantic relationship in 2016, when they were both involved in the investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email server.

Other GOP members of the Judiciary Committee slammed Page's refusal to appear, with Ron DeSantis of Florida calling it "pathetic" and Jim Jordan of OH said she was "once again showing the double standard".

Page's attorney, Amy Jeffress, countered by saying that her client is willing to cooperate but was denied the opportunity to prepare for the hearing by not having access to essential Federal Bureau of Investigation files.

Jeffress said in a statement prior to the contempt threat that Page could not appear without first having access to Federal Bureau of Investigation documents that the committees already possessed, and that they had ignored her efforts to find a later date for the deposition.

Netflix Topples HBO in Emmy Nominations
Leading the nominations in totals by platform were Netflix (112), leapfrogging last year's leader HBO, which scored 108. The 2018 Emmy Awards nominations came out today, and of course, many fan favorites were left off of the list.

Strzok was removed from Mueller's team when the texts were discovered previous year.
