Nets trade Jeremy Lin to the Hawks

The Nets made the move early Friday morning to ease their logjam at point guard.

According to Wojnarowski, Atlanta is also sending Brooklyn a 2020 second-round pick via Portland.

Along with Lin, the Nets will give the Hawks a 2025 second-round pick and the right to swap picks in 2023, per to the report.

Thomas finished last season with the Los Angeles Lakers after his trade from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers . While never the most efficient guy, Thomas was usually good to shoot in the mid-to-high 30-percent range from deep.

Lin, who was on an expiring $12.5 million contract, hasn't played since rupturing his patellar tendon during the opening game last season.

As for the Nets, the Nets backcourt will now be mostly handled by Spencer Dinwiddie, D'Angelo Russell, and Caris LeVert.

Lin joins rookie point guard Trae Young and veteran Dennis Schroder in a crowded back court with the Hawks. The NBA's first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent has also played for Golden State, Houston, the Lakers and Charlotte.
