Trump would fight any United States special counsel subpoena in court: president's lawyer

U.S. President Donald Trump, in the midst of a working vacation, unleashed a new barrage of attacks on the national news media Sunday, saying it was "very risky & sick!"

Sunday, he negated all of that by admitting that his campaign had tried to collude with Russian Federation to win the presidency, after all. "I did not know about it!" the President tweeted.

President Trump took to Twitter Sunday to insist he is not concerned about potential legal questions surrounding his son Donald Trump Jr.'s involvement in a 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians. "He's the "Bad Idea Jeans" of presidents". Trump's tweet reveals that he lied previous year when he personally dictated a statement, released by his son, Donald Trump Jr., which claimed the meeting was mostly about USA adoption of Russian children.

Trump tweeted that his son met with a Kremlin-connected lawyer to collect information about his political opponent.

Sekulow ― whose career has made him an expert on school voucher and religious freedom cases, not criminal law - claimed that meeting with Russians tied to their country's government with the goal of getting assistance to win a US election was not illegal.

Chief Waller , however, said shootings were down 30 percent from 2017, and murders down 25 percent. Many of those victims were wounded in a string of six mass shootings in seven hours early Sunday.

Later Sunday, Jay Sekulow, one of the president's lawyers, defended the 2016 meeting. "No one has pointed to one". Others have said the meeting could provide clues to a broader conspiracy by Trump officials with Russians.

Trump's July 2017 comments came before we knew he was involved in drafting that initial misleading response; now Trump is in the public record as having authored it.

Why is the Trump Tower meeting controversial?

White House Press Secretary, at the time, Sean Spicer said there was no evidence to believe "there was anything except for discussion about adoption and the Magnitsky Act". Mr. Trump has repeatedly denied that members of his campaign colluded with the Russians.

While "collusion" is not mentioned in US criminal statutes, Mueller is investigating whether anyone associated with Trump coordinated with the Russians, which could result in criminal charges if they entered into a conspiracy to break the law, including through cyberhacking or interfering with the election. US intelligence made that assessment public in an October 7 statement.

"And we've seen 1.4 million documents, we've provided 32 witness interviews of any type of collusion on behalf of the president and the Russians".
