Ruby Rose gets emotional about Batwoman casting

While on the show to promote The Meg, Rose revealed that she got the call that she'd been cast as Kate Kane shortly before she had to head to the premiere for the new Jason Statham thriller on Monday.

"I was so nervous doing the red carpet that I basically skipped everybody because I was anxious, I kept spontaneously crying, I feel like I'm probably gonna do it now", she explained, before tearing up.

As previously reported, Rose will star in The CW's adaptation of the comic book for its connected superhero universe that already includes shows like "The Flash" and "Supergirl". Rose talked about what the role means to her by sharing her motto since she came into the entertainment industry: "Be the person you needed when you were younger". But while the CW-verse adds new and exciting characters all the time, this particular marriage of casting and character is special. "I said I wouldn't do that!"

"It's like the third thing I thought about, not only can kids watch this growing up and relate to it and feel empowered and think they can be a superhero, but also I can go on and do these things like visiting hospitals and kids and people in need", she said. Kate Kane's introduction in 2006's 52 remains the single-most important one DC have made this side of 2000, with the character having starred in some of the most fascinating, innovative, and compelling Batman stories of the last decade. But don't call her a hero yet.
