Everton complete triple deadline day signings as Bernard joins Barcelona duo

Everton have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Colombia defender Yerry Mina for 30.25m euros (£27.19m), while signing Mina's team-mate Andre Gomes on loan. However after the initial loan Southampton will have an obligation to buy the Englishman for £20 million.

While Bernard was finalising his transfer at Everton's Finch Farm training ground a club delegation led by the director of football, Marcel Brands, concluded deals for Mina and Gomes in Barcelona.

Andre Gomes, meanwhile, will sign on a season-long loan - with Everton paying a loan fee of £2m for the Portuguese global midfielder.

It was also a good day for Leicester City, who, not only managed to keep hold of Harry Maguire amid reported interest from United, but also brought in the well-regarded young defender Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg, tied Jamie Vardy down to a new deal and signed Croatia Under-21 global Filip Benkovic.

Speaking about why he wanted to join, the 23-year-old told the club's website that he discussed Everton with fellow teammate Lucas Digne - who played alongside Mina at Camp Nou - before making the switch.

For the first time, the Premier League deadline was moved forward to the day before the season kicks off when United host Leicester City on Friday.

The Brazilian said new Everton boss Marco Silva convinced him to join the Toffees. "This is a great opportunity for me", said Mina. Meanwhile Gomes moves on loan for the season for 2.25 million.

Mina, 23, only joined Barca six months ago from Palmeiras, but coach Ernesto Valverde has not been convinced by him and the club have made a decision to take advantage of his increased value following an impressive World Cup.
