Man Dies From Brain-Eating Amoeba After Visiting Waco Surf Resort

A New Jersey man died after contracting a "brain-eating" amoeba called Naegleria fowleri, according to news reports.

A 29-year-old surfer died from what is commonly known as a "brain-eating amoeba" after visiting a resort in Waco, Texas.

Stabile, whose family said he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to surf, had been at the park on vacation. He went on to develop symptoms, including brain swelling and fever, and was pronounced brain dead on September 21.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is now investigating the case and BSR has voluntarily ceased operation until conclusive results are available.

Google to pay $9 billion to Apple in 2018, but why?
Google Chrome dominates the browser industry with 59.7 percent, Safari comes second with 14.5 percent command in the category. Before the end of 2017 it was reported that Apple was getting upwards of $3 billion from Google to secure that spot.

Doctors first thought he was suffering from meningitis, but tests revealed he had Naegleria fowleri the day before his death, when it was too late to treat the infection.

The amoeba infects people when it enters the body through the nose, causing Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis.

In rare cases, the amoeba has been found in inadequately chlorinated swimming pools and even tap water.

Naegleria fowleri infections are rare.

According to the CDC, the fatality rate for the amoeba is over 97 percent.
