Nikki Haley resigns as U.S. ambassador to the UN

President Trump speaks to members of the media as he arrives with Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, at the U.N. General Assembly last month. And CNN's was far from the only theory out there.

In a joint appearance at the Oval Office, Donald Trump described Ms Haley as a "very special" person - adding that she had hinted six months ago she was considering taking time off.

She was previously governor of SC - the first woman to hold the post.

"We actually have many names", Trump said.

Haley praised the couple during her resignation announcement Tuesday.

Nikki Haley on Tuesday abruptly resigned as USA ambassador to the United Nations, a move she said she had talked about with President Donald Trump for months.

Robertson: Title race not just between Liverpool and City
One situation and they are alone in front of your goalie, or alone in the box and they shoot and score an easy goal. Clearly, from the way they set up, neither of them wanted to be beaten, rather than both going looking for the win.

It could be that Sen.

Haley, the former governor of SC, has been a fierce advocate for Trump's policies at the U.N. She said Tuesday that in the past two years, the US had become respected on the world stage, if not necessarily liked.

At the recent UN General Assembly session, Haley took the highly unusual step for a senior diplomat of joining street protesters against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, shouting from a megaphone that the leftist leader should leave office.

Before she was named by Trump to her United Nations post, Haley was governor of SC, the first woman to hold the post. "She has always planned to serve one year before returning home to NY, where she will continue to support the president's agenda and work on Middle East policy", Sanders said at the time. He already has eight years of experience of working at the UN.

"All of those things have made a huge difference in the U.S. standing, but I can tell you that the USA is strong again. But I will tell you that I think it's time".

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley plans to resign, The Associated Press has learned.

On Monday, the federal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington called for the State Department's inspector general to launch an ethics investigation into Haley regarding seven free flights on private planes that Haley and her husband accepted from three SC businessmen in 2017.

She is the first Indian-American woman Governor and the second Indian-American governor of any State. President Trump praised her warmly both on personal and professional fronts, their remarks belying raging speculation in the Washington commentariat that there was something untoward in the development.

"We will miss you... you've done a fantastic job", Trump said in warm words that clearly showed there was no animus between them.

"I don't agree with the president on everything", Haley wrote in her September 7 op-ed.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham said she had been "a true agent of reform" at the UN.

Conservatives, even those who are suspicious of Trump's "America First" policy, have tended to give Haley the benefit of the doubt, even as she carries out his agenda. "I just don't know who I'm fighting that day", Haley told Reuters earlier this year.
