Sony Could Be Planning Backward Compatibility for PS5

Sony's PlayStation 4 has been around for five years now, which means it's starting to get a little long in the tooth. As always, details regarding Sony's next-gen console are quite hush hush, so fans are now relying on leaks, rumours, and speculation to come up with the goods. However, the fact that Yoshida has publicly referenced next-generation hardware and Sony's need for it could be an indication of where the company feels the PS4 is in its life, as well as acknowledgement that a successor is in the works. A while back, there was talk of the regular, generational hardware cycle fading away to allow a more iterative approach, and we suppose it's possible the PS5 could be the turning point. Neither outright replaced the base console - instead, they offered better graphics and performance for the same games. Rather than focusing on streaming games over the internet - a la Netflix - Sony is apparently working on a more powerful box for running prettier games.

Both Sony and Microsoft altered that cycle this generation by releasing half-step upgrades in the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, respectively.

Saints WR Ted Ginn Jr. ruled out vs. Redskins with knee injury
He finished the game with a stellar quarterback rating of 153.2 and threw for three touchdowns on 26-of-29 passing for 363 yards. The Washington Redskins were outplayed and out-coached on national television, losing to the Saints 43-19.

Sony has been in the lead for years when it comes to console sales.

It's most likely that the former is true, however, sources apparently "in the know" told Financial Times that the next PlayStation might "represent a major departure from the PS4, and that the fundamental architecture was similar". He remained coy about any further details, and declined to confirm whether or not the system would be called the PlayStation 5.

The official death toll has reached 1,424 with thousands more injured and more than 70,000 residents displaced from their homes. The Indonesian authorities and locals at Palu and Balikpapan thanked the NZDF personnel for helping, Natapu said.

Sony's no doubt hoping that you'll consider the PS4 Pro for now, but don't worry if you're not: Something new is also in the works.
