Hamilton calls for more Vettel respect

Hamilton will start the Japanese Grand Prix from the front of the grid after claiming an 80th pole position of his record-breaking career at the Suzuka circuit on Saturday.

Ferrari's campaign has unravelled spectacularly as the season has worn on, with what appeared set to be a titanic battle of two four-time champions instead turning into a one-horse race.

But victories for Hamilton in back-to-back grands prix in Italy and Singapore - a combination of sublime driving and Ferrari errors - helped the Briton take a firm grip on a fifth world title.

The British driver will head to Austin, Texas, a venue where he is unbeaten since 2013, in the knowledge that another victory, and failure from his fallen rival Sebastian Vettel to finish in the top two, will secure his title fate a week on Sunday.

"I feel the media need to show a little more respect for Sebastian", Hamilton posted on his Instagram account.
