Lionel Messi SLAMMED: Diego Maradona hits out at Barcelona star's leadership

Diego Maradona lampooned Lionel Messi for using "the bathroom 20 times before a game" and suggested the Argentina star stay in the worldwide wilderness.

"We shouldn't deify Messi any longer", Maradona said in an interview with Fox Sports.

The reference was believed to be in connection with Messi's extreme nerves before games that have seen him vomit ahead of some important matches. There he was asked who the one player the club would have loved to have signed but hadn't.

Argentina are unbeaten in three friendlies since Russian Federation 2018, while Messi has netted 11 goals in as many competitive club appearances this season.

May will never agree to a backstop plan that means Britain could be permanently tied to the bloc's customs rules, her spokeswoman said on Friday.

Messi scored just one goal and has captained his country since 2011, but Maradona is not happy with the Barca talisman.

"It's useless to make a leader of a guy who goes to the bathroom 20 times before a game", Maradona is reported to have said on The Last World Mexico.

"He's a great player but he's not a leader".

Barcelona have reportedly started to plan a new contract for forward Lionel Messi.

"In the third set I really started to figure it out, as well, how aggressive or how tactical I wanted to make the match". Meanwhile Roger Federer had a tough three-set win over Roberto Bautista Agut - 6-3 2-6 6-4.

But he has struggled to reproduce the same scintillating form when wearing the blue and white of Argentina.

The 57-year-old has now taken aim at Messi after criticising the Argentina national team's recent shortcomings.

The former Argentina legend, now managing Dorados de Sinaloa from Mexico's second tier, took some time to chat with LUP's pundits on the current state of Argentina and its main star.

"Then, on the field, he wants to be the leader". I wouldn't call him up, but never say never.
