The wrecked vehicle had dropped 50 feet and landed on a mesquite tree.

A woman has been rescued after spending almost a week trapped in her auto that was left suspended in a tree following a crash in the Arizona desert, officials said.

The 53-year-old woman was travelling on national route 60 near Wickenburg, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Phoenix, when she lost control on October 12, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, lost control of her vehicle on October 12 on a rain-slicked road near Wickenburg, Arizona, about 65 miles (105 km) north of Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The woman, who has not been identified, was found when a highway maintenance crew member and a rancher who were chasing cattle noticed a hole in the fence.

Jamal Khashoggi's body was 'dissolved', claims Erdoğan adviser
A source close to the Saudi Royal Palace told CNN last week that the location of Khashoggi's body was not known to the Saudis. Saudi Arabia has faced a torrent of worldwide condemnation over the killing of the royal insider-turned-critic.

When they stood by the damaged fence, they found the mangled vehicle and called authorities. "So I sat up and she was under a tree in front of us", said David Moralez, the rancher who helped find the woman.

DPS Trooper Caleb Hiegel helped find the woman.

After about 500 yards, they "discovered a severely dehydrated woman with serious injuries" who was curled up in a fetal position on the ground.

But she never made it to the tracks.

She was taken to hospital.

"There were no apparent witnesses to the crash and it would be six days before the woman would be discovered by authorities", the troopers said.

She walked toward the area's railroad tracks hoping to be found, but didn't make it due to her condition, the report said.

The woman recounted how she was driving on USA 60 on October 12 when she lost control of her vehicle, according to the trooper.

Col. Frank Milstead, of DPS, said that "everyone involved" with aiding the stranded woman "is exemplary and to be commended".

She was found after two state transportation workers and a rancher were moving a cow along the highway.
