WhatsApp geared up to show ads in 'Status,' confirms VP Chris Daniels

WhatsApp Vice President Chris Daniels told journalist in India from the Economic Times that the ads would count towards the "primary monetisation mode for the company". The emergence of ads might just encourage users to switch to ads-free messaging apps such as Telegram and Signal. This shift seems to have been among the reasons why Brian Acton, one of the app's co-founders, left Facebook previous year.

WhatsApp will soon come out with advertisements on its status showing page.

It was previous year when WhatsApp changed its "Status" feature into one that's a lot like "Stories" from Instagram.

West Ham also show interest in Wanyama
Dier missed the Carabao Cup victory over West Ham in midweek after being forced off with a thigh injury during the Premier League defeat to Manchester City on Monday night.

IL sees jump in turnout for early voting
During the last midterm election, almost 3.19 million Floridians cast their ballots before Election Day. The county operates 46 early voting locations, and more than 700 polling places will be open Tuesday.

However, after buying WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014, Facebook has constantly looked for ways to make money from its 1.5 billion users. Status updates are visible to users' contacts for 24 hours before disappearing.

There are over 50 million users on JioPhone from Reliance that supports WhatsApp natively and reaching out to them is another major task for the Facebook-owned messaging app. "Businesses pay to send those messages", said Daniels via India Times.

Daniels didn't mention when Facebook plans on rolling out ads in WhatsApp.
