Delawareans Decide State Offices, Senate and House Races

Polls show Democrats have a strong chance of retaking the House on Tuesday, but they shouldn't open the champagne yet-even if they do win, it could take weeks to be confirmed, according to a New York Times analysis.

Democrats believe that what they see as anti-immigrant talk from the president and a focus on a caravan still hundreds of miles away from the United States, will backfire. Trump faces potentially debilitating fallout should Republicans lose control of one or both chambers in Congress, ending two years of GOP hegemony in Washington. That's unlikely, by all accounts, because the map is so friendly for the GOP.

Democrats' focus is largely on snatching back the House and picking up governors' seats in Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio and elsewhere.

Juan Vides is taking on freshman Republican Assemblywoman Melissa Miller, and it could be a competitive race since Miller won her seat by only 5 points in 2016.

Polls open later in what is proving to be one of the most divisive USA midterm elections for decades.

So what can we expect if the Democrats do win the House?

Trump campaigned in Indiana Monday, just three days after his last visit, in a desperate effort to take down a Democratic incumbent here.

As part of that oversight, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has named a top priority: forcing Trump to hand over his tax returns.

DC Suburb Likely To Get Second Amazon Headquarters
MA economic development secretary Jay Ash said Saturday his office has not been in recent contact with Amazon. The Post reports that Amazon is in advanced talks about building options at the Arlington County location.

"In view of analysts at Danske Bank, markets focus remains on politics as tomorrow, the USA mid-term elections take place, where the most likely outcome seems to be a divided Congress". Ryan seems to believe that the way to break the blue wave is to find those indies who are still left on the table, presumably by focusing on the economy.

There is no strong historical relationship between midterms and the path of the U.S. currency, making a Democratic House victory unlikely to thwart the dollar's rally, Citi said.

In the 435-member House, Republicans now hold 235 members, compared to 193 Democrats. Democrats have a lengthy list of their own priorities they would like to vote on such as lowering prescription drug costs.

There is a 6-1 chance the Republicans will take exactly 50 seats and 7-1 odds they will have under 50 seats. Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat, in North Dakota. Looking exclusively at Trump's approval rating, you would expect them to win up to 41, but allowance needs to be made for the Republicans' recent gerrymandering of district boundaries, which should help them hang on to around five seats that would otherwise flip.

Instead of running for re-election, Republican Assemblyman Dean Murray is running for the seat being vacated by state Sen. The reforms signed into law by Democratic president Barack Obama have helped millions of Americans gain insurance. Aided by Republican retirements and an unprecedented flood of donations, majority from women, they appear to be almost guaranteed to gain at least somewhere in the mid-to-high teens.

Laying into the tangled legal scandals enveloping the Trump administration - especially the possible collusion between his presidential campaign and Russian operatives - Obama scoffed, "They've racked up enough indictments to fill a football team". "It could happen", he said, adding "don't worry about it".

Even so, Sharry said he would like to see more Democrats address Trump's "divisiveness and demagoguery".

Among likely voters, 50 percent prefer a Democratic Congress, while 43 percent prefer a Republican Congress, according to the final Wall Street Journal-NBC poll before the election, released Sunday morning.

China's richest person exasperated with trade war
Mr Trump has repeatedly criticised China's trade surplus with the U.S. which he wants to narrow through the imposition of tariffs. China imported $1.84 trillion of goods in 2017, up 16 per cent, or $255 billion, from a year earlier.

This outcome would be a massive victory for Donald Trump and the Republican party. And it wouldn't be wrong. At least two dozen Democrats are waiting in the wings, eager to take Trump. It wouldn't necessarily be a resounding affirmation of Trump - these are only red states the GOP would be winning - but it would lead to some real, justified soul-searching. On the line for the president will be his ability to legislate, appoint new judges and ultimately set the stage to run for a second term.

The president spent Monday barnstorming the Midwest on behalf of allies in close races, drawing loud and enthusiastic crowds of thousands.

Her appearance, in a former Pottery Barn that San Francisco Democrats have transformed into an election war room, capped a cross-country campaign swing stumping for Democratic candidates and meeting activists.

All 435 seats in the US House are up for re-election. It's really hard to rule anything out, given we're in uncharted territory here, and that all of our previous assumptions about how these things work have been called into question.

"Now what you see is dog whistle politics, appeals to racists and the worst of America", accused Tom Perez, chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

What it would mean: The same as above - chaos - except less specifically partisan.
