The spin-off project is expected to run for two hours, and is quoted to "be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise".

We've had a prequel series to delve deeper into one of the greatest TV shows of all time, and now another chapter in the Breaking Bad universe is potentially in the works.

The New Mexico Film Office confirmed that a Sony production under that name will start filming in Albuquerque - where the original series was filmed - later this month, right up until February, 2019.

The Journal also reports that the project now has the working title Greenbriar - though that could just be a holding name. "For years we've built up the film industry in New Mexico and strengthened our film incentives, now we're seeing success after success for the film industry in our state".

United States entertainment industry website Deadline reports that it is unclear if cast members from the original series, which was toplined by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, will return for what is envisioned as a standalone Breaking Bad story. Partly thanks to the excellent Better Call Saul spin-off, but also partly to the vague ending that didn't quite offer a full-stop to Walter White's story, the brand endures.

Details are sparse, with no information on what shape the movie would take - a prequel like "Better Call Saul" or something else - or whether any of "Breaking Bad's" stars will return.
